I have a script that continusly checks a folder on a win 2k network sometime I get a window that opens called “finder.out” but am unable to close it. the window then seems to fill up with garbage, does anybody know what this is and how I can stop it.

Are you using folder actions? Sounds like a bug from that?
nope well I don’t think so the only commands I am using are update folder “xxxxx” and set x to number of items of folder xxx.
The only addition I am running is Jons commands OSX for the deletefile routine.
