What you say may be true with some apps but with Quark I can’t tell paragraph 2 to do anything until there is a paragraph 2 which doesn’t occur until I put a return as the last character of paragraph 1. (This may be just a quirk of Quark.)

Andrew - message received and understood. Bear in mind that I was specifically referring to Tex-Edit Plus (and, I would think, most un-quirky other text manipulating environments).
