Assigning hot keys

Ok, here’s the deal, I’m really lazy

I have MSN Messenger, and it’s such a chore to select the status when I want to change it, for example, I change it to “on the phone” a lot when, well, I’m on the phone. We used it in our company and thus it’s a good indicator to the rest of the team that I’m on the phone, busy, or can be harrased

I have written a Konfabulator widget which, on pressing fucntions keys, will call an applescript (using System UI Elements) and select the correct menu. Now I could use this, as it is rather cool, but I am just wondering if there is a way to just assign scripts to a key press in the OS itself. Does Full Keyboard Access allow this?

The other thing would be, can one script the assignment of a script to a key combination?

Asking a lot I know.

Thanks for any information

I’m not sure about scripting them, but the application Xkeys(http://www.zarkonnen.com/projects/xkeys.php) does the same thing.

Thanks for that, very handy, am downloading a copy now.
