The importance of reading other people's scripts

Beginning scripting is often painful, and trying to figure out syntax can be frustrating. Besides reading books about scripting, one of the best ways to learn AppleScript is by reading other people’s scripts. Even if the script doesn’t make perfect sense to you, just seeing the way things are phrased can be a big help.

Go to the Finder, and make a search for “.scpt” (common extension for compiled scripts). Open them and read them and before long the syntax of AppleScript will become much clearer.
