Here is my take on an issue any Terminal user must have had in the past.

The script is good and probably a good learning curve for you. But as an Terminal user myself the drag & drop features is more than enough for me. Just drop any folder on the terminal app or icon in the dock and a new window will be opened with pwd is set to that folder. You don’t need cd at all.
