sysctl--access denied

Hi. I have created an Applescript app that tweaks the sysctl settings to optimise for my broadband connection. However, while the Applescript work successfully in superuser mode, only one command works at administrator level and the script doesn't function at all at 'vanilla user' level. Is there a way to authorise root from this?
