I have been looking into this for awhile with no real results. It is a bit silly but with my current setup I have a Cinema display and a MBP at work, and take the MBP home with a Cinema display there also. The MBP sits on different sides and work and at home, but for some reason OSX thinks each 24" display is identical and I always have to switch the arrangement back and forth. Yes of course I could change up my setup to match in both places, but I prefer to solve the problem the way I really want to.
Does anyone know of a fix for this by chance? I believe this used to detect EVERY display separately even if they were the same model. If not, does anyone know how to get control of display arrangement through scripting? Whether it be AppleScript, command line tools, whatever.
