Odd applescript failure on my Mac

Hi!

I’m running El Cap 10.11.3. For some reason I can’t open or run Applescripts after the last update. When I try to open or create a script in script editor, I see this error in Console->All Messages:

2/22/16 9:05:42.200 PM Script Editor[1440]: error=-2147450879: cannot set default target of scripting component 0 to (null)

In the Script Editor preferences, the Default Language is blank.

My /System/Library/Components is the same as another Mac running 10.11.3, and that one runs scripts just fine. The /System/Library/ScriptingAdditions and /System/Library/ScriptingDefinitions also are the same.

I tried reinstalling the combo updater with no luck.

Is there some undocumented way to load Applescript in El Cap?

Well, some more info. The version of /System/Library/Component/AppleScript.component is 2.5. The md5 of Contents/MacOS/AppleScript is:

md5 AppleScript
MD5 (AppleScript) = 7985c57eba56a6b24c2a7d8780122185

That’s the same as on my other Mac.

The only other thing I can think of is that AS can’t operate in high memory when you have 32GB of RAM ie; it’s not 64-bit clean. Time to pop out some RAM and see.

Fixed in 10.11.4.
