Yesterday I bought the last masterpiece of Shane Stanley, namely AppleScriptObjC Explored 5th.
I’m very very happy with it because it’s the perfect guide I needed; originally I was pretty diffident of all the feedback about this book, particularly because I’m a non-English speaker and I was afraid I was buying a book which I couldn’t understand, but I wanted to try.
Just when I downloaded it I was impressed by the semplicity with which it was written.
But after that there is a huge part of code, so for all non-English speaker, don’t worry, if you want to learn, this is a must-have!
And if you prefer a paper book, don’t worry even about this, because I put it on my iPad and it’s very comfortable to read!
In short, I recommend this book to all scripters, English speaker and non-English speaker!
Thank you Shane for your hard work!
This issue was raised in the Late Night Software forum, and Shane stated that he was considering how to proceed. The book was last updated 8 years ago, but it remains the definitive resource for ASObjC, and hopefully Shane will make it available again.
The book is quite a few years old now, and Xcode has undergone a lot of changes. One reason it never got updated was because Xcode changes so regularly, but also because I concluded Xcode-based ASObjC apps can be just too unreliable. Simple ones generally work fine, then people tinker with them, and so often they would just blow up.
All that said, if someone really wants a copy, they can email me or send me a private message here.
Just to clarify, the book I have is entitled “Everyday AppleScriptObjC”. The book which is the subject of this thread is apparently a different book named “AppleScriptObjC Explored 5th”. Sorry for the confusion.
