I am helping a friend move a large number of files, several hundred Mbytes, from his Mac to a Windoze machine. The process requires that proper extensions be added to the file names for the files to be readily viewable on the PC.
Anyone know of a script that will add proper extensions semi-automatically?

Hi Fred; There’s some info about this about half way down the page. “Renaming Image Files” and “Renaming” follow the threads thru these messages and that should help. I hope…Here’s a direct link to the discussion

Another option would be to identify files by “file type” and add a dot three extension to the name based on the file type (TIFF = .tif, 8BPS = .psd, XDOC = .qxd, etc.).You could also truncate the name to 8 characters if you felt it was necessary.
