Creating asterisks instead of plain text in dialog box?

I need to make a dialog box in applescript that will show up as asterisks when typed in instead of plain text. It is going to be a password dialog box. Anybody know how to do this?

check out 24u appearance osax. it offers a dialog box with password option. i believe there is another osax out there (a more simpler one) which does the same. google it.

FYI, HyperCard (upon which AppleScript is partially based) had a built-in ask password command. I didn’t realize they left it out of AppleScript. That’s too bad.
