I have a project that is going to require some work with getting data from a pc excel doc and I was wondering if there is some reference material out there for scripting.

There’s plenty of reference meterial for scripting. Be sure to look over our AppleScript books page for a complete list. http://www.macscripter.net/books.html
Looking at my own library of nearly every book on that list, it looks like Ethan Wilde’s
“AppleScript for Applications” has a 6 page section on scripting Excel.
Also, always remember that an app’s ‘dictionary’ will be your absolute best resource for information about scripting said app. As with any scriptable app, just drop it onto your script editor’s icon to open it’s dictionary.
