Export to AddressBook with marked Company checkbox

Can’t seem to figure out the X-ABShowAs function in Apple AddressBook.
In AddressBook you can click the checkbox ‘Company’ making the card show the company name. When creating a vCard from AB this is shown as ‘X-ABShowAs:COMPANY’.

With a applescript I am exporting from FileMaker but how can I set the card automaticallly with the Company checkbox?

I get Access not Allowed when i try to add the X-ABShowAs with applescript.
Does anyone have experience with this particular function?

Would be great to hear it, thanks.

Hi,

The person element in Address Book (Address Book dictionary> Address Book Script Suite> Person) has the property company. This is a boolean (true/false). If you want an Address Book record to be a company set this to true when you are setting up the record.

Best wishes

That’s Great!
Thanks for the tip.

Perhaps you also know how to use the image property from FileMaker to AB? I seem to be getting a class error with it.
Can only tiff images be used?

Can I add extra properties? Because I have more fields in FM the there are properties in AddressBook.

All the best…

I don’t know about picture files in Address Book as I don’t use them.

I’m not sure what you mean by this. You can have multiple phone numbers/email addresses/postal addresses and there is the notes field.

Was hoping that there would be a blank property with a type label. Like ‘make new item’ so I can use my other fields like banknumber.
When exporting a vCard you get item1: with a label. So I was wondering if it would be possible to use something like this for importing.

Guess I need to use the email or url properties to add other information.
It’s a pitty because when I update the card I need to clear all the url or email lines.

Thanks for your time again.
