I am hoping that someone/anyone can help me with a folder action script that will launch DVD Player upon opening a parent folder containing a TS_VIDEO subfolder.
First, to avoid the appearance of impropriety and to ease anyone’s mind who’s willing to help me, let me give you a little background: I have 2 young boys and they destroy everything. To protect my original DVDs I started making back-up copies with Mac the Ripper and Toast and then letting the boys use the backups, but I soon tired of making backups over and over. I just added a MacMini and 250 Gig drive to our TV in hopes of creating a sort of library for them with the TS_VIDEO files that they can open with DVD Player. However, this involves multiple steps and is too complex for them to do alone.
Here’s the process: When I rip a DVD with Mac the Ripper it creates a folder in my Movies folder named after the ripped movie, e.g., Sesame Street. Within this folder is the TS_VIDEO folder with the data files. To view the ripped movie I have to open DVD Player then choose to Open DVD Media under File menu then navigate to this TS_VIDEO subfolder and choose that folder only and not any of the files within it. This specific navigation is required for each and every movie they want to view.
Ideally, what I’m trying to do is have the Movies folder act as a Table of Contents where the boys just have to click on the parent folder created by Mac the Ripper (e.g. Sesame Street) and have DVD Player launch and then auto-open the appropriate TS_VIDEO subfolder and play its contents.
Although it’s no real inconvenience for me to help them, they want to do it themselves. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
