How to list properties and child objects

I am trying to script Acrobat Professional through system events. Once I came along a way of being able to get a full listing of child elements and properties of an object… which was very useful if you don’t know what your looking for.

To help explain what I am talking about… I used to be able to type a command like (PLEASE NOT THIS IS NOT THE COMAND) “Get properties of menu item 1”. and it would give me a listing of all the menu items within that menu. Or if I had a dialog box open it would tell me what all the options were in the dialog box.

Any help here would be much appreciated.

Thanks

I have not used a command like that.

When I am figuring out how to GUI script, I usually use this:

http://prefabsoftware.com/uibrowser/

Download version 1.4.1 as it continues working even after the trial period has expired.

One more edit, if you have installed the developer tools, there is a basic utility for seeing the heirarchy of an element. It used to be called the UIElementInspector:

/Developer/Applications/Utilities/Accessibility Tools/Accessibility Inspector.app

These are fantastic tools! thanks so much for that

Thank you very much Matt-Boy!

(Even though I know this will end up with me buying the real thing in the end. )

Best Regards
