"Missing CarbonLib" error message

I’m quite new to AppleScript and have a problem on my G4 (PCI Graphics) running OS 8.6:

Writing little AppleScript applets for the Finder and other applications worked fine until today, when I got an error message that a new script couldn’t be executed because CarbonLib was missing. I never installed any components of Mac OS 9 which supports carbon, nor is the concerning script in any way different from the others which still work.

The problem only occurs when I double-click the applet. Running the script from within the editor works fine.

Has anybody an idea what went wrong?

Thanks in advance
Frank

I had the same problem when I tried to transplant the new Applescript from OS 9 to my laptop running under 8.6. The same error, which went away when I rid the system of the new Script Editor and extensions, and replaced the old ones. I even got the error with the carbon library extension installed! All I could end up using where a couple of the updated additions. : ^ (

What did you install…the new Applescript components? If so, when you double-click the script, it could be launching the new editor which tries to run without the proper (i think) system resources. When you bring it up in the Script Editor, which version is the editor?

PS: I wish I knew how to transplant the new Applescript to 8.6! Anybody out there know how?

Thanks for your help, but that’s the point: I never installed the new OS 9 editor or anything else belonging to OS 9. My system couldn’t even know about carbon…???

It’s the version 1.1.3

It’s the version 1.1.3. BTW: I remember having the same problem (missing CarbonLib error message) when I - just for fun - appended the extension “.app” to a non-AppleScript-application…
