New to Applescript - automating Filemaker online DBs

I have two Filemaker DBs supporting an online course registration web site. One DB holds course information the other holds registration information. When someone registers I want the registration DB to tell the course information DB to update the course capacity status (eg Space Available or Full). How do I trigger a script in the course information DB to do this when a new record is added to the registration DB? Is Applescript the way to do this?

All advice gratefully accepted.

no you can do that right in FMP the Submit button must activate a FMP script that triggers a script in the course DB that imports the data from the registration DB
