OK, I have very little experience with AppleScript, but I have a problem.
We do IT support for a lot of small Doctor’s offices, as well as very large medical clinics. Standard MO for all our setups is to use Open Directory, everything works, everyone is happy.
A few weeks ago, the company that created the practice management software that most of them use released an update- an update which is imcompatible with an Open Directpry setup. They created an encrypted local disk image, that only one group can see- but it’s a local group, not a network group. We immediately brought this to their attention, & they say that they’re “working on it”, but I don’t have a lot of faith in them (they’re so far behind with trying to fix stuff for Lion)
So for you experienced Apple folks, is there a way in AppleScript to first check if a logging in Network User is a member of that local group, and if not, add them automatically? Or a shell script? Anything? I really don’t want to have to deal with the alternative, which is having to give someone in the office Admin rights, and then anytime someone logs into a workstation for the first time, they have to have this person add them into the group.
Thanks!
