I’ve spent some time online and here to find out how to encrypt pdfs, but the only material I could find was a full pdf encryption and the methods involved using Automator or ObjC. All good and nice but…
What I really need is a readable pdf, I just wanna prevent others from copy and print my pdfs.
Do I really need Acrobat to be able to change copy and print permissions?
The Preview app in Monterey has a menu option to Edit Permissions for a PDF, and this allows the document owner to require that the user enter a password to print or copy text or graphics from the PDF. There are other permissions that can be set–which include entering a password to view the PDF–but these are optional to the document owner.
