"Please wait" notification immediately on launch?

One of my scripts performs a lot of activities before it opens its first window, and the delay makes it seem as if nothing is happening. I tried adding a “Please wait …” notification as the first command, but it doesn’t appear until after the other activities get performed, so it doesn’t reassure the user.

Is there any way to launch a notification before anything else gets done? Probably the answer is No, but I hope it’s worth asking.

Thank you. Unfortunately, that is exactly what I used (NSProgressIndicator) to create a “please wait” dialog - and it doesn’t open (in my script) until the Run handler is almost complete. There may not be a method of opening the Please Wait dialog immediately.

No - I didn’t realize that this was how to do it! Thank you!! I will experiment!

Thank you again for this!
