Popup message when folder is modified... Is it possible?

I have a “drop box” folder on my hard drive that I’m sharing with other people around the office. They’re supposed to put new articles in there, so it’s basically my inbox. The problem is that they don’t always tell me when they drop stuff in it!

What I want to know is if it’s even possible to create a script that would inform me when a new document was placed inside the folder. Can this work?

We’re all using OS X.2.

Thanks,

Yes, it’s possible with Folder Actions. What type of notification did you have in mind?

A popup window with an “OK” button would be PERFECT.

Thanks, Rob. Any advice would be appreciated. I’m new to Applescript, but I have some programming experience.

Wow, that wasn’t hard at all. I downloaded some scripts from Apple and 3 minutes later I got a notify box working.

Thanks, Rob!

I know this is a dumb question, but how can I set Scriptmenu.menu to load on startup?

Just double click on the “Script Menu.menu” folder that is in your Applescript folder which is inside the Applications folder. That should do it.
