Quark Line Box crashes Quark

I have a particular document that when I use AppleScript to draw a line box it crashes Quark, I beleive with a type 2 error.

I can open a new document, do a thumbnail drag of all the pages from the document that crashes run my script and it works. However after I save the document it crashes when I try to do a line box.

My script is quite long, so it wrote a script that just put up a line box, and I get the same results. Any ideas as to what could be wrong with my document, or if there is any way through AppleScript to check it or fix it if there is?

Thanks for any info.

This sounds like a very sick document. If it were mine, I’d try dragging parts of it to new documents, makiing as many new documents as I possibly could. If I’m lucky, one of the new documents will be wacky and then I’ll know to rebuild that part from scratch.

Meanwhile, if the other parts have been behaving themselves, I can recombine them into a new and happy document.

Nice idea, I will probably try it, but here is a twist. The document that crashes when making a line box in AppleScript when moved to a new document with the thumbnail drag works fine and a line box will build in the document until that new document is saved.
So why would you get an error in the new document only when the doucment is saved? Does saving somehow change the document from what it was before it was saved?

I can’t say that I’ve ever seen anything exactly like that. But I have seen cases where touching (either manually or with an AppleScript) a certain box will cause Quark to crash. So then, logicially, we try to remove the damaged box (which can get kind of tricky if you can’t touch it!) only to discover that ANOTHER box has now become untouchable.

At some point, you just have to start rebuilding from scratch.
