Let me first say that, although I understand how powerful Applescript is, I have not even started to learn about it. I have very little program experience, so I am not sure if what I want is feasible or not. Please feel free to offer any suggestions on this question, as well as a way to get my applescript feet wet.
I am college student and use iCal like crazy. I love it! However, being a music student, I often encounter cancelled classes. Because of this, I would like to be able to make a cancelled event in iCal MUCH more obvious than it is now. Currently, iCal places a small x in the corner of the event once it is cancelled. This meanst that when glancing at a month or week view, you often can miss that an event has been cancelled.
I would like the cancelled event to be transluscent and have a giant x over the entire event. Something in that manner anyway. While on the subject, it would be cool to be able to NOT have a calendar selected so that all events are translucent, meaning you can see events that occur at the same time. The only way I can acheive this now, is by creating a blank calendar and choosing it!
Any and all help on this will be GREATLY appreciated. Thank you all in advance.
That’s not a bad idea. Would a script be able to automate moving cancelled event to the Cancelled Events calendar? I guess it would be just as quick to just change the calendar on the info page.
This seems to happen to me everytime I come up with an idea for actually using scripts. There seems to always be a solution without using them that is just as efficient. Maybe I am meant to not ever learn scripts. Oh well.
Well, I went with the “Cancelled Events” calendar option. Unfortunately that is not working quite well. Many of the events that cancelled for me are classes, which I have as repeated appts. If I change the calendar of the repeated event(even if the isolated event is canelled already) then all of the events within the repeat cycle are changed to the new calendar.
