Synchronizing files across volumes

I work on two computers and would like to keep the files in synchrony by using an Iomega zip disc.
The script should compare the computer’s files with those on the zip, and should replace older files with like-named newer files (regardless of where the older file resides - sometimes the zip will need updating, sometimes the computer, sometimes both).
Since thousands of people must have felt this need (or a very similar one), I imagine an applescript has already been written to do the job. Could anyone tell me where to find it?

Always check ScriptBuilders first.
I don’t know if this script compares dates, but it might be worth a look. The
author, John Rethorst, is a highly skilled AppleScripter.

With a tweak or two this will be perfect (in some respects better than what I had hoped!). Many thanks! Mark
